Practical advice on setting the display up, the most common misunderstandings, and what to do when something does not look the way you expected.
Setting it up
::: tip Landscape screen, full screen mode The display is built for landscape. Installed, it starts in full screen by itself; in a browser, press F11 so the address bar does not take room away from the table. :::
::: tip Pairing works without a QR too
Under the QR in the display’s corner the code is written out as well (ggid.to/123-456), so you do
not have to be able to scan it: you can type the digits on the phone by hand. If there is a
broken image in the corner, though, the code is not visible either, because the two are the
same image. See Pairing.

::: tip One display, one party If you want to take the same display to another party, unlink it from the first one, or close that party. A display is in one party at a time. :::
Common misunderstandings

Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to do |

| No QR code appears on the waiting screen | Reload the page. If that does not help either, the display cannot reach the service: network or address settings |
| I typed the code but the phone cannot find it | Check that the display’s code is six digits, not letters. If the display’s page was reopened meanwhile, the code has changed |
| The display has been waiting a long time and the invitation does not arrive | After a long wait it asks less often. Reload the page on the display |
| The table is visible but does not refresh | Look for a Reconnecting… bar at the top. If it is there, wait: it sorts itself out |
| An area turned into a plain coloured board with a crossed out eye on it | Not a fault: the player drew the curtain. See The table |
| The hand strips are not there, although I switched them on | Check on the phone whether the hand icon is lit green on the display’s card. See also Hand strips |
| The table suddenly got smaller | Somebody switched the hand strips on: they ask for room along the edges |
