Basic gestures

This page describes the five gestures the whole app is operated with. The other pages refer back to these, and only say what they mean in that particular place.

Tap

A short touch. It always picks something or presses something, it never moves anything.

WhereWhat it does
On a card on the tableselects it, or clears the selection
On a container (in container selection mode)selects the container, or clears it
On a pile or a stack, quickly and repeatedlytakes as many cards off the top as you tapped
On an empty part of the tableclears every selection
On the middle card of your handselects that card, or clears it
On an outer card of your handbrings that card to the middle
On a toolbar buttonperforms the button’s action
On an opponent’s headswitches to their view, another tap goes back to the shared one
On your own headtakes you to your own area, another tap goes back to the shared one

Drag

Touch, then move without letting go. What happens depends on where you started:

  • on a card: you carry the card (or the whole selection, if several cards are selected)
  • on an empty part of the table: you move the camera (panning)
  • on a card in your hand, sideways: you page through your hand
  • on a card in your hand, upwards: you take the card out of your hand
  • on a toolbar button: see below, Dragging on the buttons

You can cancel a drag by carrying it back to where you started it.

Long press

Press and hold without moving.

  • on a toolbar button or an area tab: it prints the button’s name
  • on a locked card or container: it selects it (locked pieces do not respond to a tap)
  • on your hand: it selects every card in your hand

Pinch and scroll wheel

Two fingers on the table: zoom in and out. The zoom always happens around the point between your fingers, so that point stays where it is. With a mouse the scroll wheel does the same, around the cursor.

Dragging with two fingers pans the same way.

Selection

The selection is the set that the toolbar’s actions (flip, shuffle, lock, zoom) apply to. There are two kinds, and the toolbar’s Select Containers button switches between them:

  • piece selection (the default): you select individual cards
  • container selection: you select whole containers

Selected cards appear by their own picture along the right edge of the table. From there one tap removes a card from the selection, or dragging inwards from the wall moves the whole selection.

Selecting several cards:

  • one by one, by tapping each of them
  • with the framed selection that the Multi-Select button turns on: drag on an empty part of the table to draw a rectangle, and everything inside it is selected
  • on your hand, with a long press (all of them)

Tapping an empty part of the table clears every selection.

Dragging on the buttons

On the toolbar buttons a drag has a direction, and this is the single most important thing to know about the whole toolbar:

  • dragging along the wall (that is, in the direction of the row of buttons) works on the group: it scrolls, if not everything fits, or it reorders, if the group can be reordered (the bookmarks are like this)
  • dragging perpendicular to the wall, that is towards the middle of the screen, carries what the button holds: the selected card from the right wall, or the card you would drop on an opponent’s head

If a group has nothing to scroll or reorder, the drag along the wall passes through it and moves the camera instead.
